Track Rod End Boot Covers

Track rod end boot covers (also called tie rod end boots, dust covers, or gaiters) are rubber protective covers that sit over the ball joint on the track rod end in a vehicle’s steering system.

What a track rod end boot cover does

The boot’s job is to protect the ball joint inside the track rod end by:

  • Keeping grease inside the joint for lubrication

  • Stopping dirt, water, and road salt getting in

  • Preventing corrosion and premature wear of the joint

If the boot splits or cracks, grease leaks out and contaminants enter, which can quickly damage the track rod end and affect steering performance.
